The Most Charming Man in Hollywood

Oscar winner Colin Firth, despite what you saw in The King’s Speech, is quite an excellent speaker. From his acceptance speech at last night’s Academy Awards, to the SAGs, and his many interviews.

EW has posted some of his best interviews as well as clips from Inside the Actor’s Studio. Watch and you will laugh and swoon for the most charming man in Hollywood.

My Oscar predictions

The big old granddaddy of award shows is on tonight, the Academy Awards (or Oscars) and I am super excited. In preparation for the big event, I am listing my predictions of who will take home the coveted golden statue.

Best Picture: The King’s Speech

Best Actor: Colin Firth - The King’s Speech

Best Actress: Natalie Portman - Black Swan (though I kind of wish Annette Benning would finally win, there’s no denying Portman’s performance)

Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale

Best Supporting Actress: Melissa Leo

Best Director: This is the toughest category to call. Tom Hooper won the DGA award, but the critics seem to believe that David Fincher will steal the Oscar. I think Fincher will win as a consolation prize for not winning best picture. Or maybe they will split the vote and Darren Aronofsky will win. For once, people might be more excited to see who win best director than best actor/actress.

Best Documentary: Inside Job

Animated Feature: Toy Story 3

Foreign Language Film: It should be Biutiful but the Academy has always been too conservative with this category and will probably go with Denmark’s In a Better World.

Adapted Screenplay: Aaron Sorkin - The Social Network

Original Screenplay: David Seidler - The King’s Speech

Cinematography: Inception, though it should be Black Swan

The other technical awards:

Inception will take visual effects, and both sound editing awards while the costume and art direction awards are between The King’s Speech and Alice in Wonderland. Rick Baker will take best Makeup for The Wolfman because it’s Rick Baker.

There’s my predictions, who do you think will win?

And don’t forget to watch the Oscars tonight at 8:30 est 5:30 pst

A Rising Star: Michael Fassbender

My latest celebrity crush is Michael Fassbender (which means I have watched the X-Man: Origins trailer a million times and am counting down the days until Jane Eyre comes out). But til then, I have an Entertainment Weekly interview in which he talks about his movie, Ridley’s Scott’s mysterious Prometheus, the non (but might me) Alien sequel. he also talks X-Man and his future movie career. Read the interview below

Oscar Countdown

The Oscars are only four days away and I’m super excited. However, I’m a little weary about the hosts after watching two promo videos that EW.com posted.

The first one is really strange with Anne Hathaway and James Franco sort of reenacting the carnavel scene for Grease.

The second video is suppose to be the gag real from a promo shoot that just isn’t funny.

After watching these disappointing videos, I’m considered that the Acadamy’s attempt to attract younger audiences by hiring young stars might now pay off.

Take a look and tell me what you think.

Michael Scott might be leaving but we'll have lots of Steve Carell in the future

Steve Carell might be leaving The Office but we will see a lot of him in the next year in several feature films.

According to EW.com, Carell has five movies in the works.

First there’s The Dogs of Babel, which is about a widower attempting to teach his dog how to speak. Next, there’s Great Hope Spring, in which he plays a therapist to a troubled married couple. There’s also Crazy, Stupid, Love with Ryan Gosling and Julianne Moore and Burt Wonderstone, which is about a Los Vegas magician mourning the death of his partner. And finally The Abstinence Teacher, which will costar Sandra Bullock.

So it seems that we won’t be without Steve Carell for long.

TV Alert! (with lots of Brits)

So we got lots of Brits this Monday.

First off, Harry Potter’s blond god Jason Isaacs is returning to television. He will star in REM (sans wig), which is being described as, “an Inception-style thriller, which centers on a cop who wakes up after and accident to find he is living in two different realities.”

Next up, we have an video interview with Eve Myles, who plays Gwen on the UK series (and soon to be Starz) Torchwood. She talks about her character, the new series, and being a mom.

And lastly, BBC’s Being Human star, Aidan Turner, discusses the new season, growing a beard for The Hobbit, and what’s next for his carreer.

More Thor!

EW.com has two new articles on Thor following yesterday’s full length trailer premiere. The first article is about the various villains that appear in the movie. And the second is an interview with director Kenneth Branagh about the film, casting, and it’s allusions to Shakespeare. The trailer is in both posts in case you haven’t watched it yet.

Trailer Alert!

Full length Thor trailer is up and it looks epic! Except for the troll monsters that looked like they walked out of Middle Earth. However, I know virtually nothing about this comic and I’m super excited for this movie. Maybe it’s because of Natalie Portman, or Kenneth Branagh directing, or that the lead actor is pretty hot.

Or maybe it’s Kat Dunnings, who I had no idea was in the movie, and is pretty funny.

Check it out.
